Ways To Make Your Backyard Pool More Exciting For Your Kids

As your kids get older, you might notice that they are not simply content to splash in the shallow section of the pool or lie on a raft and marvel at the fact that they are in the deep end. As a result, your backyard pool might not be getting as much use as it used to. If you want to make sure that you are getting the most out of the money that you paid to have the pool installed or the money that you are constantly paying to have it maintained, then you are going to need to make sure that your pool is attractive for all ages. Here are ways to make your pool more exciting for your children.

For the Children:

If you have kids between the ages of six and twelve, you are going to want to increase the engagement factor of the pool. This means installing features that will allow your children to climb and then hurl themselves into the pool. The most obvious way to increase the engagement of your pool is to install a diving board. The diving board will allow your children to practice their diving techniques while also allowing them to experience the thrill of jumping from a higher vantage point.

Another way to up the engagement is to install a slide. Slides are popular with younger children and will make your house a popular place to host play dates. You could also install a set of monkey bars that spans from one end of the pool to the other. This is a fun way to encourage your children to increase their upper body strength while still having fun dropping into the pool from above.

For the Teenagers:

Teenagers don't need the same level of engagement in the pool. Instead, they need a place where they can hang out. If your teen is into sports, consider installing a retractable volleyball net that is easy to set up and tear down so that your teen can have his or her friends over for a volleyball game. You could also install nets on either side of the pool for water polo, or even put a low basketball hoop on one end of the pool.

Another way to make the pool a place for teens to hang is to install a large television or a retractable screen with a projector. Teens will enjoy having their friends over to watch movies after the sun goes down.
